Fluvanna County
Fluvanna County Comprehensive Plan
The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission is pleased to have assisted Fluvanna County in preparation of its 2009 Comprehensive Plan. Fluvanna County approached the Planning District and entered into an agreement to assist in the preparation of the Plan. The Planning District used the Fluvanna County Draft Plan prepared by County staff and Planning Commission, along with other documents, to assist County staff in the creation of a cohesive and complete plan, capturing the intent of the Planning Commission, the public and Board of Supervisors.
Composting Workshop
TJPDC partnered with the Fluvanna Master Gardeners to offer a very successful workshop on home composting in November at the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescue building. Over 80 people attended, and all 25 of the compost bins that were offered for sale at cost were sold.
RideShare Assistance
RideShare assisted 62 residents in Fluvanna County in finding carpools in FY09. Fluvanna County schools participated in RideShare’s “A Day on the Go” youth program for grades 3-5.
HOME Consortium
In the past fiscal year (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 200) the HOME Consortium drew down $1,027,373 in HOME funds, excluding administrative funds. Fifteen percent of HOME funds are reserved for Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) projects. Remaining funds are evenly distributed among the six localities.
The Fluvanna/Louisa Housing Foundation (F/LHF) completed three first-time homebuyer projects along with one rental development project, and one home-owner rehabilitation project.
