Project ArchivesEco-logical Final ReportIn 2008, the Federal Highway Administration awarded the TJPDC with a grant to support the integration of regional green infrastructure planning with its transportation planning program. The completion of this project in May, 2011 has resulted in the development of several tools that would allow planning district localities to assess conflicts between regionally important natural resources and transportation projects in the planning phase of infrastructure development. The content of the project will assist the MPO in fulfilling SAFETEA-LU planning requirements.
Green Infrastructure StudyThe Green Infrastructure Study was funded through the Virginia Department of Forestry and produced by the TJPDC. The purpose of the study was to define green infrastructure, identify areas particularly suitable for green infrastructure within the planning district, and provide a list of potential implementation measures. Moore's Creek ProjectMoore's Creek, which drains parts of Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville and forms much of the southern boundary of Charlottesville, was placed on Virginia's Impaired Waters list in 1998 for levels of fecal coliform bacteria which indicate that the creek is unsafe for swimming and fishing. Since 1999, the TJPDC has been working to get it off the list. Rivanna River Basin ProjectRivanna RiverThe Executive Summary distills the work of the Rivanna River Roundtable and the Environmental Education Center into key elements. Included in the Summary are the Project Goals and Objectives, the Vision Statement, significant findings, and major recommendations. The Roundtable presents them here as a way of introducing the community to the topic in general, with the hope and expectation that the reader will be enticed into a fuller reading of the Rivanna River Basin Project. Meadowcreek Stormwater Basin RetrofitTwo stormwater detention basins in the Meadow Creek watershed, one in Charlottesville and one in Albemarle County, were selected to be retrofit for stormwater quality control. Monitoring was performed by UVA before and after retrofit installation. Lake Anna Special Area PlanThe Lake Anna Special Area Plan was the result of a unique planning effort undertaken by the Boards of Supervisors of Louisa, Orange, and Spotsylvania Counties at the request of the Lake Anna Advisory Committee (LAAC). LAAC, created in 1994 by the three localities under the Joint Exercise of Powers provisions in the Code of Virginia, has been advising the three counties about Lake-related issues since the committee's inception. Water Resources In Fluvanna County (1999 Study)The funding available to complete the 604(b) Fluvanna County Water Quality Management Plan was sufficient for Phase One of the project to be fully completed. Phase Two work, completed by Timmons for the engineering portion of the study, was funded by Fluvanna County. The study is completed in two documents: Timmons, Water and Wastewater Preliminary Engineering Report and Facilities Master Plan, and this document Water Resources in Fluvanna County. |
