Appointment

Harrison Rue has been appointed by Governor Kaine to the newly formed Climate Change Commission. The Commission will undertake a yearlong study and prepare an action plan, fulfilling one of the recommendations of the Virginia Energy Plan, which was completed in September of this year. Secretary of Natural Resources L. Preston Bryant Jr. will chair the Commission. The Commission is made up of 32 members including state legislators, scientists, economists, representatives from the energy, transportation, manufacturing, development, and agriculture industries, representatives from environmental organizations, and local government representatives.

PWN Request for Proposal

The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC), on behalf of the Piedmont Workforce Network (“PWN”) (the Purchaser), is seeking Proposals for consulting services for policy and strategy, working with the PWN staff team at TJPDC to administer the plans, contracts and responsibilities of the Piedmont Workforce Network. Proposals are due by noon on Friday January 4th 2008 with a letter proposal and supporting materials outlining qualifications, relevant experience, knowledge of workforce systems and partners in the PWN region, availability to perform, and strategies for providing the required services, along with a separate cost proposal. Staff Promotions

Heather Foor has been promoted to Program Manager of the Piedmont Workforce Network and Lisa Horanyi has been promoted to TDM/RideShare Program Manager.

Mayor and Chairs

The next Mayor and Chairs meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 25, at 11:00 a.m. Meeting dates will coincide with the Board meetings for TJPED.
