Piedmont Housing Alliance will make a presentation on their affordable housing activities and strategies.

Regional Housing Conference                       (Billie Campbell)         8:00 – 8:20

A group has been established to plan a regional housing conference for the Spring of 2008. The goal is to bring partners together to develop an updated Regional Action Agenda for housing. David will present the draft 2008 Legislative Program for adoption. The program and specific legislative requests will be presented at the October 12 Legislative Luncheon. * CTB Six-Year Improvement Program Hearings                         8:45 – 9:00

The Commonwealth Transportation Board will hold hearings on the Six Year Improvement Program. The Culpeper District meeting will be on Thursday, Nov. 1, which conflicts with our Commission meeting (MPO staff will attend on our behalf). The Lynchburg District (Nelson County) will be on Oct 29. Discussion on whether the Commission would prefer to present a regional priority statement, or defer to each locality. Click here for the VDOT memo.

RideShare Appreciation Week

RideShare is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual RideShare Awareness and Appreciation Week, occurring October 15 - 19.  This week has been set aside to increase the awareness of the RideShare programs and services and to thank individuals and employers who have taken active steps in becoming supporters of cleaner commuting.  A highlight of this year’s week is our Awards Luncheon and Workshop, which is being co-sponsored by TJPDC and the Piedmont Workforce Network and will be held Tuesday, October 16th from 11:30am – 1:00pm at the Omni Hotel, Charlottesville.  Click here to see the memo for more details. Click here to see the flyer for the October 16^th Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Business Emergency Preparedness Workshop, at which Ms. Edmunds will be presenting telework options.

Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan Workshop

The Department of Rail and Public Transportation and TJPDC will be hosting a workshop (Friday, 11/30/07, 9:00am to 1:00pm) for public and service provider input into the draft Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan, which is being developed on a statewide basis by a DRPT consultant. An invite letter will be sent out closer to the workshop;  you may want to alert your DSS or health staff to save the date.

Commission Retreat

The Commission’s Strategic Planning Retreat will be on Thursday, November 30^th, from 8:30am to noon (breakfast at 8am). Location TBD
