Transportation 101:  Transportation Programming and Funding John Giometti, VDOT Planning and Land Development Manager, will present an overview of transportation programming and funding in Virginia.

FY06 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Addendum

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has been working with the Federal Highway Administration to develop a process to bring the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and MPO Transportation Improvement Programs (TIP) into compliance with the Federal Metropolitan Planning Process Guidelines issued in February 2007.  John Giometti (VDOT) will review the materials describing the process and discuss the proposed addendum to the FY06 TIP to bring the TIP into compliance.

Transportation 101:  Bioregional Planning Ann Whitham, TJPDC Planner will present an overview of bioregional planning.  Bioregional Planning is a topic about which the CHART Committee has previously requested information.  This topic is also being considered for inclusion in the long range plan update that is currently underway.  Click here for a summary.

National Household Transportation Survey (NHTS):  The base questionnaire will provide origin and destination data that will feed the transportation model (for use in the 2014 UnJAM update). The “add-on” portion of the questionnaire is intended to provide additional information for planning purposes.  The Committee will review the proposed “add-on” questions to the base questionnaire.  Staff will provide a summary of Community Mobility Committee, MPO Tech, and CHART Committee comments to VDOT Modeling Staff.

FY08 “Game Plan” for Updating UnJAM 2025:  At its August meeting, the committee will begin to review the materials generated and requested at the July meeting.  These materials will be also discussed in greater detail at the September CHART meeting.

The following materials were developed at the July CHART meeting and revised at the July MPO Tech mtg.:

  1. Preliminary schedule and milestones summary
  2. List of recommended round one workshop work products
